Wow what a new experience for me. I never ran a half marathon before; never ran in any race before, and to my surprise it was fun. Pain overwhelmed the last hour of my run so the fun was replaced by sensations of hammers pounding my thighs. This was easy to overlook when you have the support of the crowds and the mental drive knowing that many women with breast cancer are enduring pain far worse.
The course was beautiful. Running over the salt marshes on the Butler Bridge to the sandy shores of the Atlantic on a Sunday morning was a wonderful site. This is a great town to run in. Perhaps I need to start training more.
