The image above is taken from a satellite called AQUA with a specific instrument called
MODIS which flew over
Jacksonville at 11 am on Wednesday. It shows very high detail and clouds are clearly
visible crossing the
coast of St. Johns and
Flagler counties. The St. John's river is clearly
visible. Cold air flowing over the warmer Gulf stream resulted in these clouds. The trajectory from gusty northerly winds has brought the clouds ashore where the concave coast turns southeast.
Small lines in the cumulus field appear and these are called cloud streets.
